Hi everyone,
Just got set up tonight so I can join the wonderful world of "blogging". I write and produce music and I'm just trying to find a way of getting it out there for everyone to listen to and hopefully enjoy. Guess ya gotta start somewhere right?
I've played the drums for about 33 years. I set up my own home studio about 7 years ago and started my "musical attempts". All these years I've just considered myself the knucklehead that sat in the back of the band and just gave them a beat. But wow, how amazing technology is nowadays with fantastic music production and virtual instrument software. I, along with many of my fellow musicians, was surprised with the music that was coming out of me.
As far as the music production goes, I do the overall song composition, vocals, lyrics, live drums and all the virtual instruments like the bass, strings, synths and etc. I'm a huge fan of the guitar, both electric and acoustic. There's nothing like the sound of a 'real' guitar. Virtual instruments just don't do guitars any justice, so I've enlisted the help of some very talented guitarists (past band members) for all my rhythm, lead and acoustic guitar work. As far as equipment, I'm a huge fan of Roland's electronic drum kits. They've always been cutting edge when it comes to electronic drum kits. I just bought their latest and greatest, the Roland TD20SX and I have to say that I love it so much that I sometimes feel like I'm cheating on my wife.
I would call my style of music a sort of Progressive Pop with some Contemporary Christian undertones though it doesn't come right out, get in your face and preach to you. Many of my friends call it "feel good music". I myself am very much of an optimist and it comes out in my music and lyrics. Many people have commented on how much they like the positive messages in my songs and that the world needs more of it. (I would have to agree). I seem to have a very sentimental and reflective mindset that also surfaces in my songwriting.
I feel that my music has the ability to reach many people with a large variety of musical tastes. I hope you'll take the time and give it a listen. I'm currently polishing 13 track to put on my first CD that should be available in a couple months.
So, that's me in a nutshell. Check it out and I'll talk to you soon. (Click on the widget to the right to play the tunes!)
